What help is there to buy a first home in Fiji?
Fiji's First Home Ownership Initiative has helped close to 3,760 households with about $36 million since it began in 2014, according to the Ministry of Housing and Community Development. It runs two main programmes, the First Home Purchase Program and the First Land Purchase Program, aimed at low- and middle-income earners.
The ministry also upgrades informal settlements, offering 99-year leases on serviced lots, and launched a National Housing Policy for 2025 to 2030 in April 2025. Eligibility rules and application forms are on the ministry's site. FNPF members can also make partial withdrawals for housing under the fund's guidelines.
