How many crimes are recorded in Fiji?
The Fiji Police Force recorded 17,538 crime cases in 2022, down from 18,769 in 2021 and 24,392 in 2020, according to the crime cases table published by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. Offences against property were the largest group, at 6,691 cases, followed by offences against the person, at 4,666.
These are crimes reported to and recorded by police, so changes in reporting affect them. The 2020 and 2021 totals include thousands of Public Health Act cases for breaking COVID-19 orders, so they are not like-for-like with other years. The bureau's other statistics page also has tables on victims, child abuse and road accidents.
How many murders are there in Fiji each year?
Police in Fiji recorded 30 murder cases in 2022, up from 14 in 2021, according to the crime cases table from the Fiji Police Force published by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. Between 2015 and 2021 the yearly count ranged from 12 to 26.
With small numbers, a few cases can move the figure a lot from one year to the next. The table counts cases recorded under the Crimes Act 2009, not court convictions. The same table shows 461 rape cases and 3,518 cases of assault causing actual bodily harm in 2022.
How many drug cases are there in Fiji?
Police in Fiji recorded 1,236 cases under the Illicit Drugs Control Act in 2022, according to the crime cases table published by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. Of these, 1,114 were for unlawful possession and 111 for unlawful cultivation. The total was 1,032 in 2021 and 1,501 in 2020.
Drug case counts mostly reflect police activity, such as searches and operations, as well as drug use, so a rise can mean more enforcement. The table runs to 2022; later monthly police figures were not found on an official site that could be read on 15 October 2026.
