What is Fiji's GDP growth rate?
Fiji's real GDP grew by 2.5% in 2025, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, in a release dated 31 August 2026. Services contributed 1.8 percentage points of that growth, net taxes 0.4 points and industry 0.3 points. The bureau's national accounts table shows growth of 3.6% in 2024 and 9.8% in 2023.
The 2025 figure is provisional and the 2023 and 2024 figures are revised, so all three can change. The series uses 2019 as its base year after a rebasing published in September 2025. For a forward view, the Reserve Bank of Fiji's homepage shows a 2026 growth forecast of 1.5%.
What is the inflation rate in Fiji?
Consumer prices in Fiji were 6.8% higher in September 2026 than in September 2025, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics release of 1 October 2026. The average annual inflation rate, which compares the average index for the 12 months to September 2026 with the previous 12 months, was 1.9%. The All Items index fell 0.4% from August to 117.6.
Fiji quotes two rates, and they can differ a lot: the 12-month average moves slowly, while the year-on-year rate reacts quickly to price changes. Prices are collected monthly in eight urban centres and the weights come from the 2019-20 Household Income and Expenditure Survey. For 2025 as a whole, the bureau's homepage shows average inflation of -1.4%.
What is the Reserve Bank of Fiji interest rate?
The Reserve Bank of Fiji's Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) was 0.25% as at September 2026, according to the indicator panel on the Reserve Bank of Fiji homepage. The OPR is the bank's main monetary policy signal, and the bank explains how it works on its What is the OPR? page.
The OPR is not the rate a household pays on a loan or earns on deposits. Commercial banks set their own lending and deposit rates, which the Reserve Bank collects and publishes in its economic and financial statistics. The same homepage panel shows foreign reserves of $4,092.0 million (provisional) as at September 2026.
How many tourists visit Fiji?
Fiji recorded 986,367 visitor arrivals in 2025, up from 982,938 in 2024, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. The bureau's homepage puts tourism earnings for 2025 at $2,813.8 million (provisional). For the latest month, its provisional release counts 99,963 arrivals in August 2026, a record for August and 0.2% more than a year earlier.
Monthly figures are provisional and are revised. Arrivals count visitors entering Fiji, not residents returning home. The bureau publishes hotel occupancy and tourism earnings on the same tourism and migration page.
What is Fiji's current account balance?
Fiji's current and capital account balance was a deficit of $419.9 million in the June quarter of 2026, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics balance of payments release of 5 October 2026. The financial account balance was a deficit of $333.9 million.
The balance of payments records Fiji's transactions with the rest of the world in goods, services, primary and secondary income, and capital. Tourism earnings sit in services and remittances in secondary income, so both count toward the balance. The figures draw on the International Investment Survey and administrative sources, and the full tables are in the PDF attached to the release.
What is the Fiji dollar exchange rate?
One Fiji dollar bought 0.4416 US dollars on 15 October 2026, according to the exchange rate panel on the Reserve Bank of Fiji homepage. The same panel showed 0.6335 Australian dollars, 0.7897 New Zealand dollars, 0.3959 euros and 0.3348 pounds sterling per Fiji dollar.
The rates are quoted as foreign currency per one Fiji dollar, which is the reverse of how many other countries quote. The Reserve Bank publishes the daily rates and a longer history in its economic and financial statistics. Banks and money changers add their own margins, so the rate a customer gets will differ.
