What is Monaco's GDP?
Monaco's GDP was €10,279.0 million in 2024, up 11.1% in current prices and 8.8% in volume, according to IMSEE, Monaco en Chiffres 2026, chapter 4. GDP per head was €107,213, calculated over a population of 95,874.
IMSEE divides GDP by a population figure of 95,874, more than twice the 38,857 residents counted in 2025, so the per-head figure is not directly comparable with other countries'. The volume figures remove price changes using an index based on 2020. The largest sector in 2024 was scientific, technical and administrative services (23.5% of GDP), then finance and insurance (17.6%) and construction (9.6%). IMSEE's 2025 GDP report is scheduled for 11 November 2026.
What does Monaco export?
Monaco's exports and deliveries of goods were €1,229.2 million in 2025, and imports and acquisitions €2,757.2 million, according to IMSEE, Monaco en Chiffres 2026. 63.0% of exports went to the European Union, not counting France.
Monaco and France form a customs union, so trade between the two countries is not recorded by customs. These figures cover only goods traded between Monaco and the rest of the world outside France, and they leave out services. The yearbook breaks the totals down by product family and by country. Exports were €1,298.6 million in 2024, so 2025 was about 5% lower.
How productive is Monaco's economy?
GDP per employee was €156,500 in 2024 in current prices, according to IMSEE, Monaco en Chiffres 2026. In constant 2020 prices it was €140,025, a rise of 5.2% on 2023. The figure divides GDP by 65,680 employees, counting both public and private sectors.
IMSEE uses this measure because most people who work in Monaco do not live there, so GDP per resident is misleading. Most employees commute from France and Italy. Changes in GDP per employee show how output grows compared with the number of jobs. Productivity on this measure rose by only 0.5% in 2023, then picked up in 2024 as GDP grew faster than employment.
