Consumer prices in Lebanon rose 16.66% in the year to August 2026 and 1.40% between July and August, according to the Central Administration of Statistics.
This is the national consumer price index, which follows the prices of a fixed basket of goods and services bought by households. A yearly rise of 16.66% means a basket that cost LBP 100,000 in August 2025 cost about LBP 116,660 in August 2026. Monthly releases and the index history are in the CAS consumer price index section.
Are prices rising faster in some parts of Lebanon?
In August 2026, monthly price rises ranged from 0.50% in Beirut to 2.12% in Nabatieh, according to the Central Administration of Statistics. The rise was 1.75% in Mount Lebanon, 1.38% in Bekaa, 1.09% in the North and 0.79% in the South.
CAS publishes the consumer price index by governorate as well as for the whole country. These are changes from July to August 2026, so they show one month's movement, not the level of prices. CAS notes that prices for Nabatieh were imputed, so that figure is less reliable than the others.
