How much crime is there in Uzbekistan?
Police in Uzbekistan identified 61,500 people who committed crimes in 2025, up from 59,951 in 2024, according to the National Statistics Committee's crime and justice data, compiled from Ministry of Internal Affairs records. People aged 31 and over made up 57.1% of them.
The figure counts identified offenders, not recorded offences, so it is not directly comparable with crime counts published in other countries. Crimes whose perpetrator is not identified are not included. The committee's datasets break the total down by type of crime, age and sex.
How many murders are there in Uzbekistan?
Uzbekistan registered 316 premeditated murders and attempted murders in 2025, down from 364 in 2024, according to the National Statistics Committee, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The number of people identified as committing them was 252, of whom 212 were men and 40 women.
The national count includes attempts, so it cannot be divided by population to compare with homicide rates elsewhere. The UNODC rate republished by the World Bank, which counts completed intentional homicides only, was 1.4 per 100,000 people in 2021, the latest year shown.
How common is fraud in Uzbekistan?
Uzbekistan identified 6,107 people who committed fraud in 2025, up from 5,430 in 2024, according to the National Statistics Committee's crime and justice data. Over the same period the number of people identified for theft fell from 9,278 to 8,747, and for muggings and robberies from 781 to 580.
Men accounted for 86.5% of those identified for fraud in 2025. The figures count identified offenders rather than reported offences. Fraud includes online and card fraud, which are often under-reported and harder to solve than street crime, so identified-offender counts capture only part of it.
How many drug crimes are there in Uzbekistan?
Uzbekistan identified 8,758 drug offenders in 2025, up from 7,200 in 2024, according to the National Statistics Committee. Men made up 95.8% of them: 8,390 men and 370 women.
Changes in drug offence numbers often reflect the level of police enforcement as much as changes in drug use or trafficking. The figures count people identified for offences under the criminal code, including possession, sale and trafficking of narcotic substances.
How many young people commit crimes in Uzbekistan?
Uzbekistan identified 3,116 people aged 15 to 17 who committed crimes in 2025, up from 2,998 in 2024, according to the National Statistics Committee's crime and justice data. A further 22,909 offenders were aged 25 to 30. Children aged 13 and 14 made up 0.5% of all identified offenders.
The age of criminal responsibility in Uzbekistan is generally 16, and 13 or 14 for some serious offences listed in the criminal code, which is why the youngest age groups appear in the figures. The counts are of identified offenders, not of offences.
