What are Liechtenstein's greenhouse gas emissions?

Liechtenstein emitted 151.0 kilotonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2024, excluding land use and forestry (LULUCF), or 3.7 tonnes per person, according to its National Inventory Document 2026, submitted to the UNFCCC in April 2026. That is 33.9% below 1990 and 10.2% below 2023.

CO2 made up 76.0% of emissions, methane 14.0% and nitrous oxide 4.6%. The inventory notes that emissions peaked in 2006 and that yearly changes are driven partly by winter temperatures and fuel prices, which affect heating. Liechtenstein's targets are a cut of 55% by 2030 and 68% by 2035, compared with 1990, and net zero by 2050.
