What is the HIV rate in Gabon?

2.8% of people aged 15 to 49 in Gabon were living with HIV in 2024, according to the World Bank, which publishes UNAIDS estimates. The rate has fallen from 3.2% in 2021.

The figure is a modelled estimate of everyone living with the virus, diagnosed or not, in that age group. It is not the number of new infections. Prevalence can fall slowly even when new infections drop sharply, because people on treatment live long lives. The national health insurance fund, CNAMGS, lists the care it covers and its approved providers on its website.
