What is the inflation rate in Gabon?

Consumer prices in Gabon were 0.7% higher in June 2026 than a year earlier, according to the Bank of Central African States (BEAC). Measured as a 12-month average, inflation was 1.4%.

Across the CEMAC region the average was 2.3% year on year in June 2026, and well below the regional ceiling of 3%. The BEAC compiles the figures from national price indices, which in Gabon cover a basket of 125 items. Both measures matter: the year-on-year rate shows the latest movement, while the annual average is the one judged against the 3% norm. The BEAC publishes its inflation note every quarter.

What is the BEAC interest rate?

The BEAC's main policy rate, the tender interest rate (TIAO), was 4.50% in August 2026, according to the dashboard of the BEAC Monetary Policy Committee for September 2026. The rate was cut from 4.75% in June 2026. The marginal lending facility rate was 5.75%.

The BEAC sets one rate for all six CEMAC countries: Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad. The TIAO is the rate at which the central bank lends to banks in its weekly liquidity auctions. Because the CFA franc is pegged to the euro, the BEAC also watches European Central Bank rates. Its Monetary Policy Committee meets several times a year and publishes a press release after each meeting on the committee page.

What is Gabon's GDP growth rate?

Gabon's real GDP grew by an estimated 3.5% in 2025, according to the BEAC's September 2026 Monetary Policy Committee dashboard. Its baseline scenario projects 2.4% growth in 2026.

The oil and non-oil economies moved in opposite directions: oil output shrank by 2.7% in 2025 while the non-oil sector grew by 5.9%. For 2026 the BEAC expects a 3.0% fall in the oil sector and 4.1% growth outside it. Oil still provides a large share of exports and government revenue, so changes in oil prices and production swing the overall figure. The BEAC's tables draw on national administrations and the IMF.

What is Gabon's GDP per capita?

Gabon's GDP per person was an estimated US$6,623 in 2025, according to the BEAC's September 2026 Monetary Policy Committee dashboard. Nominal GDP was 13,091 billion CFA francs and the population 3.4 million.

The BEAC table also projects GDP per person at about US$7,081 in 2026 in its baseline scenario. GDP per capita in US dollars moves with oil prices and the euro-dollar exchange rate, since the CFA franc is tied to the euro. It is a measure of output, not of household income.

What is the CFA franc exchange rate in Gabon?

One euro equals 655.957 CFA francs, the fixed parity shown on the indicators page of the Directorate General of Statistics. The rate does not change, because the Central African CFA franc is pegged to the euro.

Gabon uses the Central African CFA franc (XAF), issued by the BEAC for the six CEMAC countries. The peg means the CFA franc's value against the US dollar and other currencies moves with the euro. The statistics office page dates its dollar rate to 2012, so for current dollar rates use the daily rates published by banks or the BEAC. The BEAC also publishes a real effective exchange rate that tracks Gabon's competitiveness.
