How many refugees are there in Armenia?

Armenia hosted 123,087 refugees and 998 asylum seekers at the end of 2025, according to UNHCR population data. The number of refugees was 144,379 at the end of 2024 and 150,080 at the end of 2023.

Refugees are people whose need for protection has been recognised; asylum seekers are still waiting for a decision. UNHCR compiles the figures from government sources. The counts fall as people acquire citizenship or another status, so a lower number does not necessarily mean people have left the country.

How many people leave Armenia?

Armenia's net migration was minus 29,013 people in 2025, according to World Bank Open Data, meaning more people left than arrived.

Net migration is the number of immigrants minus the number of emigrants, including citizens and non-citizens. The World Bank figures are estimates from the UN Population Division and may be revised. They do not separate short-term labour migration from permanent moves, so they show the overall balance rather than the reasons people move. No national migration counts could be read on the Migration and Citizenship Service site, checked on 15 October 2026.
