Building transport resilience
What was announced
The transport resilience strategy sets out the government’s approach to strengthening the resilience of the UK transport system over the next 5 to 10 years.
Key points, in the publisher's words
- I want to inform the House that my department has published the transport resilience strategy today (2 November 2026).
- Transport is vital to our way of life. It connects people to family and jobs, goods to industry and supports connectivity, economic growth and health. A secure and resilient transport system is essential to thriving communities and to delivering economic growth across every part of the UK.
- The publication of the resilience action plan in July 2025 set out this government’s strategic approach to building resilience in an increasingly volatile and uncertain world. This transport resilience strategy puts that approach into practice for the transport sector, setting our direction for the next 5 to 10 years.
