What is Sweden's GDP growth rate?
Sweden's GDP grew 1.6% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the first, seasonally adjusted, and was 3.3% higher than a year earlier, calendar adjusted, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB).
SCB says the rise came mainly from investment, exports and household consumption, while inventories held growth back. Gross fixed capital formation rose 3.5%, driven by machinery, equipment and weapon systems. Household real disposable income was 1.0% higher than a year earlier. Quarterly GDP figures are revised as more data arrive; Eurostat publishes the same series on a comparable EU basis.
What is the inflation rate in Sweden?
Sweden's inflation rate was 1.1% in September 2026, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), up from 0.3% in August, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). CPIF inflation, which the Riksbank targets, was 1.5%, up from 0.7%.
The CPIF holds mortgage interest rates fixed, so it is not moved directly by Riksbank rate changes; the CPI includes them. SCB says energy was the main source of price increases over the year: fuel prices rose 20% and electricity 17%. CPIF excluding energy (CPIF-XE) was 0.5%. The Riksbank's target is 2% CPIF inflation.
What is the Riksbank's policy rate?
The Riksbank's policy rate is 1.75%, held unchanged at its decision announced on 24 September 2026. The next monetary policy decision will be announced on 4 November 2026.
The policy rate is the rate at which banks can deposit money with the Riksbank for a week, and it guides short-term market rates and variable mortgage rates. The Riksbank sets it to keep CPIF inflation close to 2%. With each decision it publishes a forecast of where the rate is likely to go over the coming quarters; this is a forecast, not a commitment.
What is Sweden's GDP per person?
Sweden's GDP per person was €56,250 in 2025, at current prices, according to Eurostat. Adjusted for price differences between countries, it was 111.1% of the EU average, compared with 113.0% in 2022.
The price-adjusted figure uses purchasing power standards (PPS), an artificial currency in which one unit buys the same amount in every EU country, so it is better for comparing living standards. The euro figure also moves with the krona exchange rate. Sweden's population was 10,621,103 in August 2026, according to Statistics Sweden.
