What is the unemployment rate in San Marino?
San Marino's total unemployment rate was 4.18% in July 2026, according to the National Statistics Office's labour market rates table. The rate of unemployment in the strict sense was 2.63%. For 2025 as a whole the rates were 4.34% and 2.52%.
The office publishes two measures. "Strict sense" unemployment counts people who are out of work and immediately available. The total rate also includes other people registered as looking for work. Both rates have fallen sharply since 2016, when the total was 8.59%. Women's rates are higher than men's: 5.41% against 2.95% in July 2026 on the total measure.

Cross-border workers live outside San Marino and travel in to work. The report links the rise to more retirements and fewer young residents entering work, as the population ages.
