San: population, jobs, schools, health, housing and poverty

San is a region of Mali, number 11 of 20 by population. Mali's fifth general census (RGPH5), taken in 2022, counted 820,807 people in the San region (418,353 men and boys, 402,454 women and girls), 3.7% of Mali's 22.40 million; 10th smallest of Mali's 20 regions (counting Bamako). It is one of the regions set up under the 2023 law that divides Mali into 19 regions and the District of Bamako.
