Koutiala is a region of Mali, number 7 of 20 by population. Mali's fifth general census (RGPH5), taken in 2022, counted 1,169,882 people in the Koutiala region (573,069 men and boys, 596,813 women and girls), 5.2% of Mali's 22.40 million; 7th largest of Mali's 20 regions (counting Bamako). It is one of the regions set up under the 2023 law that divides Mali into 19 regions and the District of Bamako.
