Provinces of the Dominican Republic: population and official figures

the Dominican Republic is divided into 32 provinces. The largest by population is Santo Domingo with 2,769,588 people (25.7% of the total); the smallest is Pedernales with 34,375. Population figures are from the 2010 and 2022 censuses of the Oficina Nacional de Estadística (ONE), tabulated by the state agricultural research institute IDIAF because the ONE website blocks automated downloads. Each province page adds poverty by development region (ONE), registered births (ONE), schools (Ministry of Education), public health facilities (National Health Service), household registry data (SIUBEN), the Aliméntate subsidy (Supérate) and vocational training (INFOTEP).

Who governs the Dominican Republic's provinces?
