Solomon Islands: crime and justice

How much crime is there in the Solomon Islands?
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force recorded 3,684 crimes nationally in 2018, and detected (solved) 1,509 of them, according to the crime statistics annex of its Annual Report 2018, the latest annual report on its site, checked on 15 October 2026. Recorded crime was lower than in 2017.
The police warn that these figures are not sufficiently accurate, because they came from decades-old manual systems; the force said it would move crime recording to a new Justice Information Management System. Recorded crime counts only offences reported to the police, so many incidents, especially in remote areas, may not appear.
