Slovakia's GDP was 0.9% higher in the second quarter of 2026 than a year earlier, and 0.2% higher than in the first quarter, according to Eurostat's quarterly national accounts, which use data from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic. Growth on a year earlier was 0.9% in the first quarter of 2026 too, and between 0.7% and 0.9% in each quarter of 2025.
The figures are in real terms, adjusted for price changes and for seasonal and calendar effects. Quarter-on-quarter growth of 0.2% has been recorded in each of the last three quarters. First estimates are revised as more data comes in, and the Statistical Office publishes the national release on its own site.

The HICP is calculated the same way in every EU country, so it allows comparison with other member states. The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic also publishes a national consumer price index, which covers a slightly different basket and can give a different rate. Energy prices rose much faster than food over the past year.
What is the interest rate in Slovakia?
Slovakia uses the euro, so its policy rates are set by the European Central Bank. The rates were raised by 0.25 points in June 2026 and again in September.
The deposit facility rate is the one the ECB uses to steer policy. The National Bank of Slovakia is part of the Eurosystem, and its governor sits on the ECB Governing Council.
What is Slovakia's GDP per capita?
Slovakia's GDP per person was EUR 25,060 in 2025 at current prices, up from EUR 23,850 in 2024, according to Eurostat's national accounts per capita. Measured in purchasing power standards, which adjust for price differences between countries, Slovakia's GDP per person was 75% of the EU average in 2024, according to Eurostat's price level and volume indices, up from 71% in 2022.
The purchasing power measure is the better guide for comparing living standards between countries, because prices in Slovakia are lower than the EU average. GDP per person measures output, not household income.
