What is the life expectancy in Niger?
Life expectancy at birth in Niger is 66.1 years for 2024, 65.2 for men and 67.0 for women, according to population projections by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). The World Bank, using UN Population Division estimates, gives a lower figure of 61.4 years for 2024.
The INS figure comes from its 2012-2024 projections based on the 2012 census, while the UN estimate is modelled from all available surveys and censuses, which explains the gap. Niger's fifth general census of population (RGPH-5) is in preparation and will provide a new base.
