Second-hand dwellings, the larger part of the market, showed a pure price rise of 11.5% over the year, while prices of new dwellings were 0.7% lower after adjusting for the mix of homes sold. How fast are rents rising in Hungary?
Services prices, which include rents, were 4.9% higher in September 2026 than a year earlier, according to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) consumer price index. KSH publishes rent as one of the detailed expenditure groups in its monthly price tables.
The consumer price index covers rents actually paid by tenants. Because the index measures change rather than level, it does not show what a flat costs to rent in Budapest compared with other cities. No official series of average asking rents was found on the KSH site.
