Regions of Guinea: population and official figures

Guinea is divided into 8 regions. The largest by population is Kankan with 2,611,957 people (18.7% of the total); the smallest is Mamou with 972,783. Region populations are Institut National de la Statistique projections for 2024 from the 2014 census, the latest regional figures that could be saved here. The preliminary results of the July 2025 census count 17.52 million people nationally, about 25% more, so these projections are too low overall, though the gap is likely to differ between regions. Each page adds poverty (EHCVM 2018/19), jobs (ENESI 2018/19) and school statistics (2024) from the INS Annuaire statistique 2024, and health, water, sanitation, literacy and school attendance from the 2024-2025 Demographic and Health Survey.
