Ghana Statistical Service: official statistics for Ghana

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) is Ghana's national statistics office. It publishes the consumer price index, producer prices, quarterly GDP, the quarterly Labour Force Survey, population projections, the 2021 Population and Housing Census and poverty and food insecurity measures. Its home page carries a 'Ghana at a Glance' panel with the latest figures.

When it publishes

CPI is released monthly and GDP quarterly; the home page lists upcoming releases and GSS publishes a release calendar.

How to use it to check a claim

  1. Quote the reference period shown on the panel, which differs by indicator.
  2. For unemployment, use GSS's survey-based rate rather than modelled international estimates when describing Ghana's official figure.
  3. For poverty, say whether a figure is multidimensional poverty or monetary poverty.

Common mistakes

Where is Ghana's latest inflation figure?

On the GSS home page and in its monthly CPI bulletin; the Bank of Ghana home page also shows it.
