How common is crime in Cambodia?
2.4% of Cambodian households were victims of property crime, such as theft, burglary or robbery, in the 12 months before their interview, according to the National Institute of Statistics' Cambodia Socio-Economic Survey 2023. 3.9% of households were affected by accidents.
About 0.2% of the population reported being victims of violence. Among those victims, the most common act was being slapped or pushed, reported by 54.3% of women and 32.6% of men. Victim surveys capture crimes that are not reported to the police, so they can give a different picture from police records. The survey asked about property crime, domestic violence and accidents.
