Where does a salary sit for an occupation?

Pick an occupation and enter a salary to see where it falls among the pay percentiles the ONS publishes for that occupation in the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) 2025. Nothing you type is stored.

How this works

ASHE publishes the 10th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th, 50th (median), 60th, 70th, 75th, 80th and 90th percentiles of gross pay for each occupation. A percentile is the level below which that share of jobs fell. The tool finds the two published percentiles either side of your figure; it does not estimate between them.

Gross pay is before tax, National Insurance and pension contributions. ASHE covers employee jobs, not the self-employed. This tool repeats published ONS figures; it is not careers or pay advice. More: pay by occupation · Income Tax and National Insurance by band.
