The ONS gives an annual CPI rate for electricity, gas and other fuels (COICOP 04.5) for every year from 1989 to 2025: 37 years. In 2025 prices in this class were 1.6% higher on average than in 2024, against 3.4% for all CPI items. The highest yearly rate in the series is 64.8% in 2022; the lowest is -18.7% in 2024. The rate for this class was higher than the all-items CPI rate in 22 of the 37 years where both are published. Prices in this class fell on average in 9 years.
