Aberdeen South by-election 2026: result
The Aberdeen South by-election was held on 18 June 2026. Douglas Lumsden (Conservative) won with 14,308 votes, 49.4% of the valid vote, a majority of 6,050 over Richard Gordon Thomson (Scottish National Party).
The House of Commons Library describes the result as: “Conservative gain from Scottish National Party by Douglas Lumsden with a majority of 6,050”.
At the general election of 4 July 2024, Stephen Flynn (Scottish National Party) won the seat with 32.8% of the vote; at the by-election Scottish National Party received 28.5%.
Turnout was 38.0% of the 76,033 electorate, lower than the 59.9% at that general election.
The largest change in a party's share since the general election was for Conservative, up 25.2 percentage points.
