How much is the UK foreign aid budget?
The FCDO's Statistics on International Development are the official figures. The provisional release for 2025, published 9 April 2026, put UK Official Development Assistance (ODA) at £13,036 million, or 0.43% of gross national income (GNI), down from 0.50% in 2024.
The UK spent 0.7% of GNI on aid from 2013 to 2020. This fell to 0.5% from 2021, and in February 2025 the Government decided to reduce it to 0.3% of GNI by 2027 to fund higher defence spending.
Aid is measured in calendar years under OECD rules and includes the first year's cost of supporting refugees and asylum seekers in the UK: £2,395 million in 2025. Provisional figures are replaced by final ones in the autumn.
When is the next figure out?
