Frankie Gilkes Chairman I moved from St James Northampton to Rothersthorpe in 2019 with my wife Hannah and 2 boys, Jack & Archie. Since moving to the village we have really embraced village life and actively support some great village events, we love living here! I am an avid volunteer, supporting some great organisations over the years. I have been actively involved in the voluntary sector since 2001. Away from the Parish Council committee rooms I am a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer with Leicestershire, Northamptonshire & Rutland Army Cadet Force. I am a keen cyclist in both road & mountain biking and got involved with Volunteer Ride Leadership through British Cycling, where I deliver the Let's Ride Programme within my local community. I have also served as a Special Constable with Northamptonshire Police from 2003 to 2014, policing as part of the Northampton Town Centre safer community team. I was Co-Opted into the Parish Council in 2020 and re-elected in 2021 where I was nominated Chairman. I am community focused and am committed to representing my parish, being your voice for local issues and to support development and improving amenities for the benefit of Rothersthorpe and its residents. I have taken up the post of Police Liaison Representative for Rothersthorpe Parish and work closely with Northamptonshire Police alongside over 150 dedicated volunteer Police Liaison representatives across the county. As a PLR's I raise issues and identify policing priorities relevant to Rothersthorpe, engage with beat officers and PCSO's through a "place based policing" model, holding officers to account through agreed key performance indicators and to build community relationships and partnerships. I have been responsible for the implementation of the new Parish Council Website, working with our new provider to design and implement a more user friendly and responsive web journey. This move to the UK Local Councils platform delivered by Cuttlefish has ensured our website is HTML5 validated and WCAG compliant, which is a legal requirement for user accessibility. Expand Full Bio Cllr. Jodie Johnson Vice-Chair I grew up living in Rothersthorpe and moved back in 2006 after spending a few years in Kingsthorpe Village when I got married. My family has a long connection with the village and the key reason for me wanting to return was that I have always felt passionately about the community aspect of village life. I have always supported events and as an adult have gone on to help organise a number of these such as the Dog show, New Year's Eve Party, Open Gardens and community meals. I was co-opted onto Parish Council in 2014 and re-elected in 2021 where I was nominated as Vice Chairperson. I view my role on the parish council as an opportunity to try and find out about the needs and interests of other villagers, in order to try and build a more inclusive village. I am a PE teacher at a secondary school in Wellingborough and as such I am committed to improving the health and wellbeing of young people. This aspiration has seen me become involved with the Dickens Field Trust Project that is looking to create a children's play area and community open space within the village. Away from the Parish Council I enjoy playing netball, running and have recently taken up road cycling. I also enjoy gardening and this has led me to work alongside the other councillors to try and improve biodiversity within the village and surrounding areas. Expand Full Bio Cllr. Tom Darwin My wife and I, along with our young daughter, moved to Rothersthorpe in 2017. We both grew up in villages in South Northamptonshire and after a stint in London, wanted to get back to the village way of life. Our son was born here in 2019 and we want our children to have the same comfort and security of growing up in a village that we did. I am Managing Director of a group of construction companies. After founding the original business back in 2012, the group has now grown to five companies that operate in the education, social, healthcare, retail and commercial sectors. I am an avid sports fan and a supporter of Liverpool FC and Northampton Saints. I have had close ties with Towcestrians Rugby Club since my mid teens, which continues today with my youngest recently starting his rugby journey with the Mini's and Juniors and I will be looking to become more actively involved with the coaching elements as his journey progresses. I am also a keen (not skilled!) golfer and try to get over to Whittlebury as often as life allows. My interest in joining Rothersthorpe Parish council stems from wanting the village to realise its full potential to benefit the people that live here. A priority for me would be the implementation of traffic calming measures throughout the village and a more permanent social hub for residents. Expand Full Bio Cllr. Phil Lord I have lived in Rothersthorpe since 2016 with my wife and two teenagers. We deliberately chose to live in Rothersthorpe so we could be part of a village community. From day one we have actively supported the village through a range of activities and fund raising, and strongly believe in keeping the identity of the village. I joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2001 and remain there today. I have travelled extensively in a variety of roles, with a focus on East Africa. I was British Consul/Head of Immigration at the British High Commission in Tanzania from 2006 to 2009. Still based in the FCO (now the FCDO) I have worked for the Conflict Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) since 2015, currently working on Afghanistan and South Asia programme activity. I am a former Royal Navy reservist and continue to have an interest in the military. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) previously specialising in fragile and conflict affected states. As a former player and coach, I am an avid Rugby fan and a Saints follower (although my family is from Coventry so Wasps can be an issue!) I enjoy history and pretty much anything with an engine. Danielle Stone, your Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire. Danielle Stone was elected as the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire on the 3rd May 2024. About Danielle Stone I am a lifelong community activist and have been an elected Labour Party Councillor since 2011.I led my Labour Group of Councillors for six years. I was the finance spokesperson for eight years and the shadow cabinet member for children's services. I currently sit on planning committees.I am a member of the GMB union and the Cooperative party. I am a teacher. I worked in Northamptonshire as an education officer, setting up the Study Support Service for schools and communities. This service developed before and after school, weekend and holiday activities for school aged children. Sadly, under the Tories, just like the Sure Start Centres and the Youth Service, all this has been disbanded.I have campaigned for safer communities for many years. It is wrong that many people feel unsafe, in their own homes, own streets, and neighbourhoods.Crime in Northamptonshire is at high levels. Serious violent and sexual crimes, retail crime and vehicle crimes top the list. We must urgently tackle the causes of knife crime. We need more support for domestic abuse agencies and victims. We need resources, visible policing and better engagement with the community, to create safe communities. We need better partnership working and closer working with local authorities. Together we can achieve so much. My experience of working in communities, together with my experience of working in local authorities is a real strength. It will help us develop the services for fire and police that we all need.Danielle Stone, Dip Ed, MA My Priorities My priority – to keep us all safe. Safe in our homes, safe in our neighbourhoods, safe in school and safe at work. To deliver we need properly resourced, well run, responsive police and fire services, working closely with partners in Local Authorities, community organisations and health. Northamptonshire is among the top 20 most dangerous counties in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The overall crime rate in Northamptonshire in 2022 was 85 crimes per 1,000 people, and the most common crimes were violence and sexual offences, which happened to roughly to every 41 out of 1,000 residents. The crime rate in Northampton was even higher. The overall crime rate in Northampton in 2022 was 111 crimes per 1,000 people. The crime rate in the United Kingdom was 75.88 crimes per 1,000 people in 2022–2023. When elected, I will organise a big conversation within rural and urban localities, to hear from communities, exactly what is needed in each area. We pay for the services; so we need them to be working more closely with us and for us. Already people have told me they want: Visible Policing Protection from Cyber crime Early intervention for young people Faster response times Safe public spaces with better lighting and CCTV Community Safety Partnership meetings held in public Decarbonisation of buildings and vehicles Targeting Gangs Knife Crime awareness in schools and clubs Support for Retailers An end to violence against women and girls Modern Slavery stopped. On funding: Labour have laid out plans to require forces to share back-office functions to cut costs, including centralised procurement to eliminate the wasteful practice of forces paying different amounts for the same equipment. The savings (over £370 million) will then be reinvested in the recruitment of 13,000 more neighbourhood police & PCSOs."
