I was born and raised in Coventry before attending the School of Art at Nottingham Trent University (as it is known today) specialising in 'Creative Photography'. I went on to work for Channel 4 and major independent TV companies. I am now retired. My personal interests are eclectic. I swim most days and love walking in the Chiltern Hills. Introductory Information about Ian "I was born in Barry and left aged 18 to attend Hatfield Polytechnic, now University of Hertfordshire then I worked at Glaxo Research (now GlaxoSmithKline PLC.) for over ten years, initially as a microbiologist and later as an information scientist. I then became bored and branched out into self-employment converting a hobby of working in stained glass into a full time employment. After various twists and turns I spent almost fifteen years working for various Barnet based solicitors representing clients detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act. My wife & I have lived in Redbourn for twenty five years but before retirement my job required me to be travelling all over the country to various hospital mental health secure units and thus I had little time to involve myself in village activities. Since retiring I have been active in the Friends of Nickey Line as I enjoy country activities, such as bird watching & walking. My other interests include travelling, visiting museums / art galleries, opera and general 'tekkie' things. I am concerned about environmental matters and maintaining Redbourn's unique character while enabling it to survive long term and thus am involved in the various parish council campaigns to prevent it being engulfed by unsuitable housing and help maintain its pleasant environment. I have served on the council for ten years, initially co-opted and then twice elected. I am currently vice-chair of Finance and Policy and also sit on Management and Communications and Commons and Green Spaces. I am actively involved in the Village Hall management and consider it "the jewel" in Redbourn's crown." Expand Full Bio Mobile 07528741947 Email cllr.ian.caldwell@redbourn-pc.gov.uk Cllr. Introductory Information about Teresa "I have lived in Redbourn all my life and decided I wanted to get involved in the parish council to give something back. In 2014, I was fortunate enough to get elected, so by day I'm a personal assistant for a local company and by night a parish councillor at various meetings. I'm involved in the development of our Neighbourhood Plan, and protecting our Green Belt, through RAGE (Redbourn Against Green Belt Erosion), where we have a Facebook page keeping residents up to date with local greenbelt issues and St Albans District Council's (SADC) Local Plan that could have massive implications for our Village's future. I'm very passionate about ensuring the village retains its unique character and surrounding countryside. With the aid of a former councillor, a couple of years ago, we set up Friends of the High Street (FOTHS), made up of local residents who have got together, looking at ways we can help revitalise our High Street, we're starting to see progress, our local heritage is now on the independent Redbourn Village Online website which I manage, we now have a regular village market, helped promote a community hub now called Redbourn Emporium, working with the local businesses and shops and much more... It's been a busy few years, getting to know the ins and outs of working as a parish councillor, lots of meetings, speaking to many residents, joining various other committees and knowing that there are people within our community, who really just want what's best for the village. It's a great place to live and I will do my best to make sure Redbourn continues to stay that way!" Expand Full Bio Mobile 07968 171654 Email cllr.teresa.finnigan@redbourn-pc.gov.uk Cllr. After getting married my husband and I chose Hertfordshire as our home county. We moved to Redbourn in 2003 after a chance visit; we loved the village vibe and beautiful common and decided this was a perfect location to bring up our two children who are now in their teens. I have worked in a number of local schools and county libraries over the years. I currently run The Little Redbourn Book Hub, a free open air book swap on my front path which was set up in lockdown while the local library was closed. At this time, I also set up a sewing circle to make items for staff working for the NHS and local care homes. I have volunteered at the primary school and library, I am Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator and OWL representative for my street, volunteer for my school's PTA and organise an annual Pumpkin Trail for children and parents in October. I now teach part time in a local school and when not working I enjoy singing in two choirs, performing at local and national events and on tours internationally. I am delighted to have been co-opted onto Redbourn Parish Council in June 2022 and look forward to continuing to serve the community in this new role. I am passionate about Redbourn and want to contribute actively towards keeping our village the lovely place that it is." I am currently an active member of the Redbourn Friends of the High Street (FOTHS) and make regular phone calls to isolated and lonely individuals through the Communities 1 st charity. I've worked in the IT industry since 1995, originally in networking/infrastructure and systems support, now as a general consultant for SMEs. Officially my company is based in London but I have principally been working from home in Redbourn for the last 5 years. This has given me more time to get involved in the village, hence my decision to stand for the Parish Council. I have been on the Fireworks Committee since 2017, helping to organise the event and working on the evening - usually you'll find me directing the traffic down by the Jolly Gardener. Also I have been volunteering at the Village Museum, occasionally as a steward but mostly assisting with their IT requirements. My dog Tara (a black Labrador) is very keen on walking and socialising around the village, which gives me the opportunity to meet many people and hear their views on Redbourn. I am keen on maintaining a balance between the traditional village life and meeting the needs of modern society, which I hope will be reflected in my contributions to the Parish Council." I regularly put theory into practice and in the past I was actively involved in a charity which offered support for entrepreneurs and small businesses. Introductory Information about Richard I have lived in Redbourn since 1985. This followed from my appointment as the head of business lending at Barclays Bank in Watford. My two children attended the primary school in the village followed by schools in St Albans. In 1997 I left Barclays and joined the Central Bank of Kuwait, in Kuwait. My family stayed in Redbourn with my wife visiting me during school holidays – Sue worked at a school in St Albans. Since arriving home, I have volunteered with a Citizens Advice Bureau, CPRE Hertfordshire and the organising committee of Redbourn Christmas Market. I was the honorary treasurer of the last two and became the Honorary Chairman of the second, serving until 2021. I became the paid Money Adviser at the CAB until a reorganisation of local government removed the funding of the role and I was made redundant. My interest in the protection of the countryside, against inappropriate development, and in finance and accounting as well as loving and valuing living in Redbourn, caused me to respond to the call for people to put themselves forward as possible Parish Councillors.
