Full Council meets monthly with the exception of August and December. There is a wealth of information that councillors need to read in order to be able to make informed decisions in meetings, and they are therefore provided with workshops and briefings, sometimes with specialists in the various fields, so that they can ensure they have sufficient opportunity to ask questions and ensure that they are confident that they have as much information as possible to guide them in their decision-making. Councillors are ultimately responsible for the activities of the council, with their resolutions being carried out by the Town Hall staff. Councillors are elected every four years and, in addition to administering the affairs of the council, deal with a multitude of matters on behalf of residents in their ward.
