The Mayor, who chairs Town Council meetings, is elected at the start of each council year in May and confirmed at the annual Mayor Making where the new Mayor swears an oath of office, and proposes a deputy for the year, who is then elected.
The Mayor for 2026/27 is Councillor Richard Willis.
The Deputy Mayor for 2026/27 is Councillor Graham Page.
Councillors abide by a Code of Conduct and complete a Register of Interest Form.
From 29 June 2026, the change in legislation under Section 32A of the Localism Act 2011 requires all councillors to opt-in to publishing their home addresses. Somerset Council continues to hold all registers internally for transparency and oversight, and to manage any potential conflict of interests. Updated parish and town records will be published when consent has been clarified with councillors. In the interim period, please contact the Town Clerk regarding current register of interest forms.
