West Hill has seven Parish Councillors and a population of around 2,300. During the 19th century, West Hill was a small settlement. St Michael’s church was finished in 1846, and the Old School opened in 1876. In the late 1960’s, building progressed rapidly for a few years until the 1970’s when the infrastructure failed to keep pace and development slowed. Potter’s Country Market (now McColl’s) opened in 1971. In the mid 1980’s a new Village Hall was built, closely followed by the new Primary School. In recent years, new development has continued slowly. West Hill is proudly known as “the woodland village”.
