There are 12 elected members serving on the Town Council and 2 elected members also serving on the North Northamptonshire Unitary Council. Town Councillors Cllr. Mick Burgess John Pyel Ward Since May 2025 My career was previously within the Disability and Social Care Sector where I worked for 36 years in various positions for a number of Care and Support Charities. In 2021, I made the decision to leave my last role as a Director of Operations and Business Development for a National Disability Charity to become the full time Carer of my Mum, Sheila. It is my privilege and honour to care for someone who once cared for me. You don't have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful or perfect, to make a difference in someone's life, you just have to care! I get my resilience from my Mum, who stood by me, and in fact, who stood up to a whole Community when I came out as gay in mid-1980's. She taught me to be strong and to stand up for myself and, as I've grown older, I have learnt that strong people stand up for others too. Today, as a full time Carer, and an active member of our Community, and as a Trustee for the Northamptonshire Carers Charity, I have come to realise that caring for, and standing up for people, are two great qualities to live your life by, which is why, with my Mum Sheila, and my soul mate partner Liam, by my side, I am proud to be a Town Councillor for Irthlingborough and to do my utmost to care for, stand up for, and do the right thing by the people who live here" Register of Interests Expand Full Bio Cllr. Jon Gray John Pyel Ward We have lived in Irthlingborough for 12 years being a family man with strong family values. I feel passionately about the quality of life in our local area. Ethan Hopkinson John Pyel Ward Register of Interests As a Town Councillor for the John Pyel Ward it is my vision to make Irthlingborough a wonderful place to live, work and visit. I have lived in Irthlingborough my whole life, including going to the local schools, and I am very proud of my home town. For a number of years I have been actively involved in the local community through volunteering and employment. Previously I have volunteered at the Library, represented Huxlow Academy (Huxlow Science College at the time) as Deputy Head Boy, co-founded Irthlingborough Youth Club and worked at the local pub, The Oliver Twist. I enjoy seeing the work and achievements of people and organisations across Irthlingborough, and beyond, when attending events on behalf of The Mayor, and I am always struck by the generosity and dedication shown by people towards their respective causes. Currently I work for RSPCA Northamptonshire as Community Events and Fundraising Coordinator, helping them to promote their vision of 'a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion' and support Irthlingborough Town Cricket Club through their Entertainment Committee. If there is ever anything that I can support you with, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Expand Full Bio Cllr. Clare Kearns-Gray John Pyel Ward Register of Interests Cllr. Caroline Cross Waterloo Ward Register of Interests I live and work in Irthlingborough. Town Councillor for Waterloo Ward as the result of a by-election in 2012. Re-elected in 2015 I am currently the mayor. I have represented the TC at ENC planning meetings; speaking out against excessive takeaways in the High St and overdevelopment in the town. I have served on many other committees including the Irthlingborough Community Centre Working Party which was set up to increase the fortunes of this venue. I am always present at Full Council meetings. Your voice must be heard. I have instigated many initiatives as a Town Councillor; the outdoor gym, the planting around The Cross and a litter-related initiative involving local schoolchildren. I am equally concerned with the little things. No issue is too trivial to warrant attention. If a single resident is unhappy, so am I. I am the TC's link member with the police and one of two town flood wardens I campaigned to save Irthlingborough Library and the historic Horseshoe pub from demolition. I established the environmental group, Friends of the Irth (weeding and litter-picking), and I run the Fettledine Afternoon Club for elderly and isolated residents. Also a volunteer for Irthlingborough Food Bank. I have been involved with the Crow Hill Bingo Nights from the start. Employed as a Support Worker for Mencap, I am also a Director of NREC (Northamptonshire Race & Equality Council), a Litter Heroes Ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy and I volunteer for a national helpline. Proactive, visible and approachable, I listen to residents' concerns and do all that I can, with the help of council office staff, to deliver for them. I take my duty as a Town Councillor extremely seriously. It is a huge honour to serve the people of Irthlingborough on the Town Council; 'the most important tier of Local Government.' (UK Local Councils). Please contact me on 07527530529 if you would like to know more about my social club (open to all), Friends of the Irth or any other matter.
