Councillors are either elected or co-opted onto the Parish Council. To be eligible, a person must be an elector of the parish; or in the past twelve months have occupied land or other premises in the parish; or work in the parish; or live within three miles of the parish boundary.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has developed this Model Councillor Code of Conduct, in association with key partners and after extensive consultation with the sector, as part of its work on supporting all tiers of local government to continue to aspire to high standards of leadership and performance. It is a template for councils to adopt in whole and/or with local amendments.
Parish Councillors adopted this code at the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council held on 11th May 2023.
