In 2011, my wife and I spent time and energy renovating what is now a lovely family house in Great Gaddesden. I’m currently Headteacher of a large Hertfordshire secondary school and see walking and running in our lovely local countryside as my weekend treat after a hard week's work. My family and I love this area and I am keen to support the parish in any way I can. Corran Griffin Council Chair and Councillor I’ve lived in Herts all my life and moved to the parish (Water End) in 1994. I love it here and have no intention of ever leaving. I’m married with 5 grown-up children/step children. I work full-time as a Programme Director for an IT Services company but I’m hoping to drop to part time working soon. Corran was elected Chair of the Council in May 2025 I’m passionate about preserving the beauty and unspoilt nature of the local area. I understand that we can’t live in a time warp and there are wider housing and infrastructure needs. It’s sad that my children can’t afford to buy a house in the area, so I do appreciate the pressures. I just want to ensure that any development is done sympathetically to our local environment and contributes to its long term sustainability. Outside of work and family, I spend my time at the gym, boxing, socialising/ going out and travelling. Read more Mark Griffin Councillor Mark lives in Water End, along with his wife Corran. He moved to the Parish in 2015 having spent most of his life living in Hertfordshire. Mark works for Computacenter, based in Hatfield and has worked in IT Sales for some 30 years now. He’s keen to encourage and support youth and adult sport, especially local youth levels, and is also keen to ensure the Parish maintains it’s rural feel, whilst, at the same time ensuring it embraces change and development to maintain a healthy balance. Guy Halsey Councillor Guy Halsey worked in London as a chartered surveyor specialising in social housing before returning to Hertfordshire to take over the farming and running of the Gaddesden Estate. Rosie Hamilton Councillor I moved to Gaddesden Row in 2017 with my husband and two young children. I am a solicitor, previously working in London but now more commonly seen walking my dogs or horse riding around the beautiful Parish countryside. I am passionate about supporting the local rural community, ensuring that the villages and surroundings have the infrastructure, investment and support that they need to survive and thrive, whilst protecting the rural character of the Parish. Chris Turner Councillor I settled in Berkhamsted 15 years ago after 37 years of service and moving around with the Royal Air Force. Latterly, I moved to Gaddesden Row in 2018. Now retired I, and my wife, spend much of our time with my neighbour’s family (my daughter, husband and her 2 daughters). When not ‘child-minding’ I spend a good deal of time walking with my dog. It has been a great experience embedding myself in local life after my many years living a nomadic lifestyle. Having grown up in the countryside I’m fully aware of the importance of community within village life, something I’m keen to promote as a Parish Councillor. Since last summers Jubilee Fete in Gaddesden Row I’m also known as “Chris Splat the Rat” nothing to do with pest control, more the children’s game! Little known fact Caroline Wood Councillor I moved to Hemel Hempstead from Rugby in the West Midlands in 1997 and have lived on Noake Mill Lane since February 2022. I currently work for Hult/Ashridge as part of the Registry Team based in the Castle. I have a strong interest in Rugby Union—almost a requirement when you come from its birthplace—as well as reading and anything involving crafts. I want to ensure that local residents, myself included, have access to the services they need and that their views are genuinely heard and taken into account. Andrew Farrow Parish Clerk, Responsible Financial Officer and Proper Officer We moved to Berkhamsted in 1998 and have two adult children. I studied Ancient and Medieval History and Archaeology at university which proved the perfect introduction to a career in banking, a hi-tec start up, and a consultancy specialising in the metadata of rights management before most recently moving into the world of the Parish Clerk! I'm also clerk to Nettleden with Potten End Parish Council. All material © Copyright Great Gaddesden Parish Council | Net Magik Websites
