Mayor and Deputy Mayor
The Mayor is the figurehead of the town council. The Mayor is elected by their fellow town councillors for a 1 year term – and can be re-elected.
During their term, the Mayor promotes and develops opportunities for the town. They also:
provide guidance to other town councillors about what is expected of them
act as the principal town council spokesperson
encourage good working relationships between councillors.
When the Mayor is not available, the Deputy Mayor takes on these duties.
Councillor Sam Blackwell has been elected as Mayor for the 2026/27 year, with Councillor Kevin Elliott serving as Deputy Mayor.
