St. Agnes Parish Council is one of Cornwall’s larger and more active parish councils, serving the communities of St. Agnes, Porthtowan, Mount Hawke, Mithian and Blackwater. The parish is divided into five Wards to reflect these distinct communities, with 16 Council seats in total: seven for St. Agnes, four for Mount Hawke, two each for Porthtowan and Blackwater, and one for Mithian. Parish Councillors are normally elected every four years to represent their Ward and the wider parish. Vacancies between elections may be filled via by-election or co-option. All Parish Councillors, whether elected or co-opted, must follow the Council’s Code of Conduct and complete a Register of Interests form. This records relevant financial and other interests and supports openness, transparency and public confidence in local decision-making.
