Parish Councillors Kevin Hobart Background: We made Great Massingham our new home in 2020 and have integrated into village life and the wider community. My wife Lisa is the “Lady Gardener” who you may see around the village. Since retiring from over 40 years in the Catering & Hospitality Sector, and having been involved with Rugby Union for many years playing & coaching for the London Fire Brigade and other local Essex teams. I also held club management roles as the Club Captain and then Treasurer. Since making Great Massingham our new home I have taken on a new role as Beach Warden for Holkham Estate being part of the Nature Reserve Team. Protecting nature and environmental conservation are high on my agenda. I would like to support the great work the Parish Council and community groups carry out and hope my business skills and support for the local community will enhance and protect our village life. Having left home at an early age, my career saw me working in the retail sector, and more latterly in Shopping Centre Management. I worked in a number of major Department Stores in the UK, including 16 years as part of The Executive Team of Selfridges, London with a 350 strong Team, including twelve Managers and Buyers. I was Chair of Selfridges’ Customer Service initiative for six years. On retirement, my Wife, Vivien and I moved to Great Massingham in 2013. We both love this amazing Village and everything which it offers. I was Secretary to the Village Hall Trustees for four years during which time I installed the kitchen which had been donated by a couple in the Village, and I also procured a number of additional items which were required. I am very appreciative of the fantastic support which I received for my Nomination, and look forward to being part of our Parish Council, which from my knowledge of the majority of other Members, is a Team highly committed to supporting and delivering for our Community. I have been a Parish Councillor here, since 2020 and a member of Great Massingham’s Parochial Church Council (PCC) since 2012. From time to time, I am invited into the local School which I really enjoy, as my career centered around working in Schools and Children's Centers. I count it a real privilege being a member of our active Parish Council and I will continue to offer my time and support for any future initiatives that protect and develop this amazing village.
