Subject to meeting the qualifying rules as laid down by Law, Town Councillors are elected for a four year term, the last Town Council elections being held in May 2023. There is no statutory description for the role of a Councillor, they are holders of a public office and as such must abide by the standards expected for holders of such an office. Representing their electors, the main role of a Councillor is to influence and contribute to the formal decisions of his/her Council and in certain instances, to represent their Council externally.
