However, with only 12 Councillors, the convention adopted by the Council is that the Town Mayor and the Deputy Town Mayor may be elected for a second consecutive year unless there are good reasons for them not to be re-elected or the Councillors in question indicate that they do not wish to continue. In addition to chairing Council meetings, the Town Mayor’s role is to attend and support, in an official capacity, events and celebrations within the Town. Each Mayor is willing to support any good cause, provided invitations are made to the Council’s office in writing.
