{"analytics_identifier":null,"base_path":"/government/news/new-chair-appointed-to-the-national-savings-and-investments-board","content_id":"ce1a8211-5613-414d-8039-c829c79a684d","description":"Luke Jensen has been appointed as the Chair of the National Savings and Investments Board.","details":{"attachments":[],"body":"<div class=\"govspeak\"><p>The Minister for Pensions announced today (4 November 2026) that Luke Jensen has been appointed as the Chair to the National Savings and Investments (NS&amp;I) Board, following a fair and open competition run by HM Treasury. </p>\n\n<p>Luke’s three-year term began on 2 November 2026. Luke has sat on the NS&amp;I Board since 1 April 2024 and was Interim Chair following Lord Gerard Lemos CMG CBE stepping down as Chair in July 2025, following his appointment to the Whip’s Office within the House of Lords. Luke brings a wealth of experience to the role from his senior executive and non-executive career across a range of retail and consumer-focused environments. Luke is currently a non-executive director for the Co-operative Group and a Senior Advisor to the Board at Eat Happy Hana Group.</p>\n\n<p><strong>The Minister for Pensions said:</strong> </p>\n\n<blockquote>\n  <p class=\"last-child\">I am pleased to appoint Luke Jensen as Chair of the NS&amp;I Board, strengthening the organisation’s leadership and oversight. Luke will continue to support NS&amp;I in providing cost-effective finance for the Government, progressing its remediation scheme following its recent bereavement claims issue, and driving forward its transformation programme.</p>\n</blockquote>\n\n<p><strong>NS&amp;I Interim Chief Executive, Sir Jim Harra, said:</strong></p>\n\n<blockquote>\n  <p class=\"last-child\">I welcome Luke Jensen’s appointment as NS&amp;I’s new Chair. He has the experience and leadership to ensure that NS&amp;I remains a vital source of government funding and a key part of the UK savings market.</p>\n</blockquote>\n\n<hr>\n\n<h4 id=\"further-information\">Further information </h4>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Luke Jensen’s appointment was regulated by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) and conducted under fair and open competition in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s <a href=\"https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/governance-code-for-public-appointments\">Governance Code on Public Appointments</a>. </li>\n  <li>Under the Code, any political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election. Luke Jensen has not declared any political activity. </li>\n  <li>Non-executive members of NS&amp;I’s Board ensure a sound strategy is in place to meet the organisation’s remit of raising cost-effective debt financing for the government. They also act as an external source of advice, have oversight of risk control and ensure NS&amp;I’s links with its outsourcing partners remain open and transparent. </li>\n  <li>NS&amp;I is one of the largest savings organisations in the UK, offering a range of savings and investments.
