{"analytics_identifier":null,"base_path":"/government/news/sue-sharps-appointment-as-interim-chair-of-the-disabled-persons-transport-advisory-committee-dptac-has-been-extended","content_id":"7ad70abd-d3af-4dff-bdd5-ad4d0aea8aa0","description":"DPTAC provides advice to the government on the transport needs of disabled people.","details":{"attachments":[],"body":"<div class=\"govspeak\"><p>Sue will continue to lead the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (<abbr title=\"Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee\">DPTAC</abbr>) to provide advice to the Department for Transport aimed at ensuring disabled people can travel safely and independently across all modes of transport. </p>\n\n<p>She was formerly Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Society for Blind Children, has served on the Committee since 2017 and was previously <abbr title=\"Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee\">DPTAC</abbr>’s Deputy Chair. </p>\n\n<p>Sue’s appointment as Interim Chair has been extended until 31 October 2027, or until a permanent chair is named following completion of the public appointment process. This process is already underway. </p>\n\n<p>As this is an interim role, following consultation with the Commissioner for Public Appointments, she was appointed without competition.</p>\n\n<h2
